The MMRV Evaluation is a blood test that assesses immunity to four common viral infections—measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox)—by measuring IgG antibodies. The presence of IgG antibodies indicates past infection or immunity from vaccination.
This panel is commonly used to confirm immunity for school or employment requirements, healthcare clearance, travel, prenatal evaluation, or before vaccination. It does not diagnose active infection, which would require IgM or molecular testing when symptoms are present.
The panel includes 4 tests:
Measles (Rubeola) IgG (MSL): Indicates immunity to measles
Mumps IgG (MUMP): Indicates immunity to mumps
Rubella IgG (RUB): Indicates immunity to rubella
Varicella-Zoster Virus IgG (VZ): Indicates immunity to chickenpox
